Link to the Falcon Folk - FAQ

So, you've seen our site and inspected it fully. Now if you have your own web page dedicated to folk music or anything else you can put a link on your site to ours. To make this easy for you we have provided this FAQ with cut and paste HTML that you can simply paste into your web page. The HTML ranges from the really simple that you just put on and we update it without you having to do anything to the hardest where you can designate font colours, background colours etc.

  • What is the easiest way for me to link?
  • Why do I not have to update your link?
  • What if I want to customise your coding?
  • What if I want to customise your coding but do not have much HTML experience?

  • What is the easiest way for me to link?

    If you use this method to link, the link on your page will look like the following section ...

    ... This link is done by a simple line of javascript that you just cut and paste onto your site. This code is as follows ...

    <script src="http://www.fyldefolk.freeserve.co.uk/link2/paste.js">
    /*
    This is the link to the Fylde Folk Website
    */
    </script>

    Why do I not have to update your link?

    If you use the coding above on your website then all of the HTML code to make this link possible is stored on our server. This means that if we ever change our links or the graphic we use or just the plain description if we add something new to the site it is automatically updated on your site without you having to do anything at all.

    We do promise you that although we can change the view of the link on your site we will never put anything on there that will slow your site down.

    What if I want to customise your coding?

    Yes, you can customise the coding that we are using but we only ask you to do this if you have a good knowledge of HTML or really need to change the coding due to darker coloured backgrounds to your web pages. The code that you will need to copy and paste then change is as follows ...

    <CENTER>
        <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="500">
            <tr>
            <td width="72" valign="bottom">
                  <a href="http://www.fyldefolk.freeserve.co.uk"><img src="windmill.gif" border="0"               hspace="0" alt="Fylde Folk Windmill"></a>
            </td>
            <td valign="top">
                  <a href="http://www.fyldefolk.freeserve.co.uk" style="color:maroon;text-decoration:underline">Fylde Folk Website</a>
                         <font color="maroon">
                     <a href="http://www.fyldefolk.freeserve.co.uk" style="color:maroon;text-decoration:none"> - click here to visit</a>
                  </font>
                    <p align="justify">
                Dedicated to folk and music in the Fylde area of England. Covering the Falcon Folk club,
                the Fylde Folk Festival, articles and reviews and other local (and not so local) topics.
            </td>
            </tr>
        </table>
    </CENTER>

    If you are using this version of the coding then you will also have to save the windmill with the rotating sails that is show to the right hand side of this text. To do this right click on the image and then choose 'Save Picture as...' place this graphic in the same file as the page you are linking from and then the graphic will be displayed correctly.

    What if I want to customise your coding but do not have much HTML experience?

    I have created a link wizard that you can use to completely customise the link that will go on your page. This is done by choosing the colours you want to use for links and the description. This will automatically show you the HTML code you need to use then just copy and paste it into your web page.

    To get to the wizard just click the following link.
