Harry Boardman

Harry was well known for his singing around the folk clubs of Britain since the early sixties. He was founder resident singer at a Folk Club in Manchester back in 1954. Although Harry concentrated to a degree on songs, saying and tales of native Lancashire, he also had a wide repertoire of Traditional songs and ballads from other countries.


Harry Cowgill

Harry Cowgill on the right seen here with Sam Sherry is one of many people inspired by the teachings of Sam Sherry and who now performs and teaches his steps to the highest standards. see also Clog-Dance Champions.

Hat Act

Hat Act describe themselves as an eclectic acoustic band, or they would if they knew hat eclectic meant. The band is basically Sue Arrow and John Gibney plus any other musicians they can nail down for any length of time.


Heather Heywood

Heather is widely regarded as a "singer's singer" and has earned respect of many of the country's top performers, most regarding her as among the very best of Scottish singers. Best known for her interpretation of traditional songs.


Hester Meadows

Currently teaching in a wide variety of couple and figure dances from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, both in workshops and on a more regular basis at "Eurodance" Club in Lancaster. Fell "in love" with the unusual and intricate rhythms and dances of Sweden, whilst on a dancing exchange visit to Northern Sweden. A friend of the Falcon.


High Level Ranters

The High Level Ranters first came together through Folk Song and Ballad Newcastle, one of the first folk clubs in Britain. The band who have been together since early 1960, draws extensively upon the wealth of Northumbrian music both dance and song. Having toured the world and as one of Englands most popular folk bands they are always a welcome sight on any programme.


Hobson and Lees

These virtuoso guitarists teamed up some years ago and as a duo they took the folk world by storm and were in great demand for festivals. Eventually, the work load and a shared desire to pursue private interests, meant they retired from the scene. In 1992 they returned to the scene - and the Fylde Folk Festival.


Holme Valley Tradition

Will Noble, Barry Bridgewater and John Cocking got together in 1983 to sing some local songs at the Holmfirth Folk Festival, and since then they have been asked to sing at numberous clubs and festivals. Their songs were learnt at local shepherds meetings and hunt socials from singers such as Arthur Howard.

Howard Bond

Howard was one of the founder members of Fleetwood Folk Club. After a short-lived but well remembered spell in the duo Bonded Boots with Dave Walters, Howard pursued a solo career in England and Belgium before returning to his native Fleetwood. Performing songs by his own pen, some from other writers and the occasional traditional song, Howard has a quiet but compelling way with audiences.


Hugh Diamond

Hugh is a man dedicated to appearing at Folk Clubs, running singarounds at festivals, and is no mean accordian player. Hugh enjoys a good song, a chat and a dram.


Hugh O'Donnell

A talented fiddle player, Hugh has been making a significant contribution to the local folk scene for more years than the Fylde Folk Festival! As well as being a skilled player of jigs reels and hornpipes, Hugh's sensitive accompaniment of songs and ballads have brought him session work on numerous recordings over the years.


Hughie Jones

Hughie Jones plays guitar, banjo, ukelele, and was taught to play harmonica by the redoubtable bluesman, Sonny Terry. He was a member of the Spinners Folk Group until it disbanded in 1988. During their career the band made about 30 LP recordings and dozens of compilations have been produced.

Huw and Tony Williams

Huw and Tony Williams long musical association began in 1974, when they were both still at school. They went through an unusual apprenticeship from rock to operatic and eventually discovered the beauty of acoustic music in the folk curcuit. Huw also discovered a natural talent for song writing.
