A.69 Band

The A.69 is that windswept moorland road that links the North-West with the North East of England. This is where the band takes its name from, the A.69 Band are regulars at festivals throughout England.


Aberjaber

This popular Welsh group has made successful European tours as well as numerous television appearances. They play music from Wales and other Celtic countries as well as their own compositions. Their repertoire also features pieces from the Musical and Poetic Relics of the Welsh Bards by Edward Jones.

Local group, Accent can entertain anyone with their wide range of music, from early sixties and Rock & Roll to songs of the present day.


Acoustic Youth Band

Founded in South West England by Tim Van Eyken and Kerensa Wragg, Acoustic Youth is a project with similar aims and objects as Youthquake. Indeed they aim to work together with Youthquake as sister organizations, sharing their experiences and skills and working together at major events.

Afterhours

Combining age-old themes with an injection of modern inspiration, Afterhours bring Irish folk music at its most vibrant to its audiences. Their talents have brought comparisons with giants of the scene like Planxty and the Bothy Band, and packed audiences certainly seem to agree with that assessment.


Alan Bell Band

When The Taverners disbanded in 1981, Alan Bell along with fellow ex-Taveners member Stuart Robinson formed his own band as a base from which he could sing his own songs in his own way, and since that time Alan and his band have appeared in concerts and Festivals all over the Country.

Alan Drake

Albion Band

The Albion Band is the foremost Contemporary folk group in England. With a glorious history stretching back over twenty years, it has been the showcase for some of the finest folk musicians in the land. Ashley Hutchings is generally considered to be the father of British Folk Rock - he founded the three bands that changed the face of British Folk Music, The Albion Band, Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention.

Alianza

Alianza (Unity) is a unique Anglo-Chilean collaboration. Three English musicians, Steve Knightley, Dave Townsend and Phil Beer combine with exiled Chilean musicians Sergio Avila , Mauricio Venegas and Vladimir Vega. They have sought out the common rhythms, themes and melodies to produce a blend of songs in English, songs in Spanish and songs in both languages and dance music from both sides of the Atlantic.

Alison Price

Alison Price is from Exeter, Devon and started playing Fiddle at an early age. She has played with several Dance bands and musicians, and after moving to the Lake District she established a rapport with several Traditional Musicians. Now living in the Fylde area she has become a much sought after musician. A Friend of the Falcon.


Alistair Anderson

Born 18th March 1948, in Wallsend, Tyne & Wear, England, and regarded by many as the country's finest squeezebox player. Alistair also plays concertina and Northumbrian Pipes, and is a fine interpreter of traditional dance tunes of England, Ireland and Scotland.

All Blacked Up

The house band for the Ironmen and Severn Gilders Morris Dancers is where it all started. "All Blacked Up and Nowhere to Go" seemed like a good title at the time so let that be a lesson for us all!
From their humble beginnings in 1986 All Blacked Up has become "One of the cream of British dance bands "with an ever increasing popularity amongst Festival and dance club organizers.

Altar Native are an up-beat, lively Celtic duo with a difference. At the heart of the music fiddle wizardry of Mark Newport and original songs and rock steady guitar of David Camlyn. Amounderness Ladies Folk Dancers

The Amounderness Ladies team is made up of dancers and musicians from across Lancashire, using Preston as a central base. In 1997 the team had the pleasure of visiting Prestons Dutch twin town, Almelo, to dance with the Folkloristische Dansgroep NS.


An Cuige

An Cuige are no strangers to Fylde, and have been playing at pubs, clubs and festivals throughout the North West for the past few years. They play the best of traditional and contemporary Irish songs and music, generating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.


Anderson and Brown

One moment the harp is playing the ancient music of Ireland, and the next the electric guitar shanks out a driving rhythm. Now audiences roar with laughter at an introductions where moments before they silently listening to a solo voice. Fiery dance tunes, compelling songs and gentle airs combined with traditional Celtic and original music.


Andy Murphy

And Murphy started playing the Uilleann Pipes in 1985, and in August 1986 he won the All-Ireland Championship for Slow Airs. He took part in the Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann tour of Northern England in 1986, and continually supports Irish music playing regularly in the sessions in Leeds and by attending local Comhaltas sessions.

Anthony John Clarke

Anthony began performing in front of live audiences at the age of thirteen when he, his brother and sister would turn their hands to traditional folk songs and entertain at parish halls and charity fund raisers. His songs "Seven in Ireland" and "Irish Eyes" have been described as two of the best songs ever written about Ireland and his quirky style and quick-wittedness has left audiences from Scandinavia to Galway literally breathless.


Ar Log

This Welsh group whose name means 'On Hire', have achieved considerable popularity outside their own borders. The Group was formed in 1976. initially as a 'scratch' band to play at the Lorient Festival in France.


Artisan

Artisan are: Jacey Bedford, Hilary Spencer and Brian Bedford. Their current repertoire takes in work by some of Britain's very best songwriters, including the groups own Brian Bedford. Artisan are quite happy to mix traditional and contemporary material and perform them equally well.

Auld Triangle

To survive in any field you have to possess something fairly special but in the music business particularly, success for most is short lived. So for a group who started life back in 1972 and who celebrated their 25th year as folk club residents in 1999, Auld Triangle must have captured that unique something that continues to make them audience favourites.
